I saw this sign and it made me laugh, I couldn't get a decent angle of it so I decided to crop right on to the sign alone. Not sure if it works that well as it's a bit out of context, but the fore/background was bad.

Ok so this pic is ok, but I'm really just posting for another reason...

There is now a gallery on GaskinImages.com. This is a website which sells canvas prints of either your own photgraphs, or any from the gallery section. Currently there are only 11 photographers in the gallery section, and I'm one of them! This company is affiliated with Jessops, who are the biggest camera / photo retailer in the UK! So I think that eventually there will be posters, flyers, ads etc in over 240 shops around the UK which direct peope to this site...

I'm not expecting to sell anything, so anything I do sell is a bonus. But I'm very excited all the same!

Just goes to show, with a little persistence and a 'cheap' Fuji prosumer camera it's possible to catch some people's attention.

:D

You have got to love that bokeh! I didn't think my camera lens was capable of creating such pleasing bokeh. Well I'm sure compared to even mid-range SLR glass it's still pretty poor, and it does have some strange lines and angles to it, but I still think it looks really interesting.

As for the butterfly, it's pretty cool too. Stayed dead still for ages, I was practically touching it with my lens whilst taking this. Oh that reminds me - cheap-ish close up filters? What a waste of time. The AF gets confused and I'm damned if I'm going to use a crappy electronic viewfinder for close-up focussing. So the filter wasn't out long before it got put back in the bag again.

Hard enough to handhold a pic like this, even harder when the little bugger won't stay still. I should have mentioned yesterday, I got a load of shots when my girlfriend and I went to a butterfly farm in Stratford-upon-Avon (the home of Shakespeare no less!).

This would have been perfect though if one of the antennae hadn't been cropped off :\

This is my 100th post on Capture the Moment. Recently it's been a bit of a low point for my photography, it's been almost exactly a year since I decided to get into this hobby. Sometimes I stuggle to think of things to shoot, other times I have them coming out of my ears.

The point is I'm so glad I started this photoblog, and I have every intention of keeping it going - especially now that I feel I'm on the way up.

Thanks for all your comments folks, if it weren't for that then I wouldn't bother posting at all - so please keep them coming!

Another shot from the same scene as the previous one. This time without the kids playing, it's a bit more abstract as without the kids in shot it's difficult to tell what's going on.

I wish I had a decent flash unit that I could have used to fill the wallpaper on the bottom right, it's a bit dark.

The composition stands out aboe the rest now, although I obviously didn't notice it that much at the time.

This is actually the seat of a really old piece of farm machinery. People used to take much more time and care when they made things, so many of these skills and enthusiasm is lost. What interesting antiques will be have in 100 years time from today?

Loads of old farm machinery at home to shoot, which is quite interesting compared to a lot of the stuff around where I normally am. I'm always drawn to the name plates and logos for some reason.
