About Me
- Name: Daaave
- Location: Bristol, United Kingdom
This photoblog is an outlet for me to publish my work and hopefully receive constructive feedback (good or bad). I'm not a diary writing type of person, but I'd like to share the images that I stumble across every now and then. Before September 2005 you can assume all the pics have been taken with a Fuji S7000. My current gear consists of a Canon 20D and various other bits and pieces. So again, I really appreciate constructive comments, if you love or hate a pic then say why!

Very interesting photo. Incredibly unique! Great idea, and nice execution.

Very original shot Daaave! You should describe how you captured it.

This shot is actually 3 shots taken in 'multi-exposure' mode on my cam. Basically 15 sec is normally the max shutter time, but you can keep overlaying images as many times as you like.
With a standard presentation type laser pointer it's like having a brush to paint with over long exposures. So I set the cam up on the tripod, released the shutter then traced around the edges of the chair with the pointer. I found the easiest way was to hold it close to the edge of my finger and trace actually touching the chair. Otherwise it's too easy to go off line.
That's about it really, I had to think for a while though of a subject that would be easy to trace and instantly recognisable. The final pic was noisey to say the least, so I adjusted the levels in PS and cloned some of the hot pixels away, then used a huge brush and burned in the large black areas to remove any trace of noise. Bit of a nuisance, but I think it's worth it.
Glad you like it.
Thanks Daaave - I suspected as much. I've never used it but you may want to look into Max Lyons'ImageStacker (http://www.tawbaware.com/imgstack.htm) which allows you to combine multiple images while keeping the noise to a minimum.

Great idea, very nice shot.
(also thanks for visiting my photoblog and the comment)
Stunning. Really, really gorgeous!
I love painting with light (I sometimes use a small penlight to wash parts of a scene), and have tried a laser before but never to this effect. Nicely done.

shudder here...
Great image, Dave. I love the way the light spills onto the floor at the base of the legs -- looks almost like it is lifiting off! Very unique. I've seen this sort of technique used before, but never with such fine results. You could turn this into a style of your own if you pursued more images like this.
