Alone

62mm equiv, 1/110 sec at f/2.8, ISO 200

This pic is ok, nothing great in my opinion. Needs to have more definition and sharpness.

I just wish I could reduce the DOF with the lens on the S7000 :\ Sometimes it's great, other times like now it's a pain.

Caution!

35mm equiv, 1/2 sec at f/8, ISO 200

I found it was the goats perched on the hills that you really need to worry about...

I'm not sure how much emotion today's and
yesterdays shots will provoke in most people. This just makes me think of empty roads, wonderful scenery and the smell of hot brakes in fresh cold air. Great stuff, driving in towns is just so mundane.

B Road

24mm equiv, 1/10 sec at f/8, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

I think I'll try this shot in this weeks
PhotoFriday
contest. The subject is rural, and I think I'm right in saying that most of the best driving roads are usually rural...

Yep, this is a proper shot of my car, as opposed to the shots I posted with my suction pad mount
here, here and here. It's my baby and I love it to pieces, lift off oversteer anyone? Oh yes.

The Bridge Burst

35mm equiv, 15 sec at f/5, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

Well, it's been far too long since I updated this blog. My girlfriends parents were here for most of this week so I spent a lot of time with them, and very little with my camera. Plus my car needed a goooooood cleaning so I spent ages and ages doing that (so expect some car pics possibly!).

Star Wars: The Pylon Strikes Back!

24mm equiv, 15 sec at f/2.8, ISO 200

In this version compared to yesterday's, the pylon is even pinker - so as before, any tips on easily removing this would be welcome.

Sorry about the title.

Star Wars

24mm equiv, 15 sec at f/2.8, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

My girlfriend thought this looked like something from Star Wars and I agree, although I think I'll post another view if this tomorrow that portrays this even more.

Technically speaking this isn't great, the photograph was unbeliveably noisey, so I had to run quite a severe noise reduction on it, infact have a look at this 100% crop to see what I mean. Also as usual the S7000 did it's best to screw up the focussing at night. What use is a pitch black LCD, and no easy manual method of focussing on infinity...?

If anyone has any tips on reducing the pink colour cast on the pylon, but not the sky (without having to spend hours selecting it from the background) - I'd love to know. The colours in this are quite different from the original, I tweaked the temperature and tint in the RAW converter.

Lofting

This is the bow of an old boat that was stranded on the side of the docks down in Portishead. On a side note, there's a cool pier there that I know would be one of the first places I visit once I eventually get a DSLR. 10 or 20 minute exposures under the moonlight on a pier just like
Bob and John take? Yes please!

Submerge

24mm equiv, 1/160 sec at f/4.5, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

The sign is underexposed, but I wanted to keep the colour in the sky...hrm, what to do? I could have bracketed and combined the layers in PS, but it would have just looked fake (as it does if I fiddle with the levels of the sign).

And if you're not technically knowledgeable when it comes to photography - hello! And sorry about that last paragraph, basically the shot is a bit dark in the wrong places.

The lighting isn't great, but this was shot under the living room lights late at night for an '
instant' challenge on the DPReview Fuji forums.

Bristols old Corn Exchange, there's a clock on the outside of this building with two minute hands. One for Bristol time, the other for London time... it wasn't until 1880 that Grenwich Mean Time was the standard across the UK. Before that, Bristol was about 11 minutes ahead of London.
