Faith

210mm, 1.5 sec at f/3.1, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

This was my entry to the Fujimugs 'Glass' challenge. It didn't do particularly well, but if I'm honest I really thought it was better than quite a few that just beat it (but no top ten contender). I'm not bitter, but I do think a non-traditional composition works against an entry. In this shot I tried to convey the detail and colour of the glass rather than the actual scene it portrays.

As always I'd appreciate your comments folks.

Jigsaw Puzzle

97mm equiv, 1/250 sec at f/4, ISO 200

My girlfriend thought at first glance that this looked like a kind of jigsaw puzzle. It's a shot I took the other day of the fountain that starred in Lamp Light.

Luminous Tree

105mm equiv, 1 sec at f/5, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

There are a couple of strongly coloured lights shining on the tree, I though it looked cool as it's so sharp against the blur of the bus behind.

Emulsion

35mm, 1/13 sec at f/2.8, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

This is a shot I took a while back for a Fujimugs challenge titled 'Not Allowed'. I would post a one of the photos that I took earlier tonight, but I've entered one in the current challenge and until voting is over no-one is allowed to publish their work. That way the voting should be as unbiased as possible. I don't think the photo I've just entered is great, but I was in a hurry and wanted to enter something. I hope you like this shot, I think it also could be improved but I'm happy.

Lamp Light

62mm, 1/25 sec at f/2.9, ISO 200

This is a bit dark, but I like it nonetheless. It's a reflection in part of a fountain, I've tweaked the colours slightly in Photoshop but only really to cool the colours even more. This is about as much as I ever like to edit a shot and still consider it quite real looking.

Dinosaur by Night

80mm, 1/50 sec at f/3, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

This is a sculpture in the centre of Bristol that reminded me of a dinosaur skeleton, the orange light on it caught my eye immediately. I was quite shocked by how blue the sky came out as well - no saturation enhancement. I was going to take loads of angles of this, but my batteries ran out...

Snails & Rabbit

40mm, 1/3 sec at f/2.8, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

This is another shot from the night I was in the restaurant translated to 'Spoil the Children' in Toulouse, France. We dined on snails, rabbit and other interesting food, my girlfriend wasn't happy about the rabbit when I told her...

I know the white balance is totally wrong for a conventional shot, but I like the warm glow.

Tacho

79mm, 3 sec at f/3, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

I'm having car problems at the minute, my favorite toy needs a new cylinder head (long story, not my fault - blame the breakdown recovery people). But the plus side is that I have a hire car and it's dials are much nicer than those on my car. I tried doing this ages ago with mine and it looked rubbish. With these dials I think it looks better.

I was going to post a straight shot, but the numbers looked a little too boring so I added a little zoom blur in PS. Comments appreciated as always.

Ratcliffe-on-Soar

210mm, 1/500 sec at f/8, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

Another shot of the power station, I hope this is just about enough variation on the theme from yesterday to be interesting.

On other news, I noticed something on the Blogger news page about photos...

What would you like to see some shots of on this blog? Suggest 3 things that you would like me to take a photo of. Best suggestions will most definitely get posted (if possible!).

Cooling Towers

210mm, 1.5 sec at f/4.5, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

This was taken at the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station near to where I'm having to work at the minute. When you're driving along the M1 motorway, you can't fail to notice the 8 massive cooling towers. This is one of the few locations that has cemented itself into my mind since I've been working away from home, my imagination needs a good shake to wake it up!

Comments appreciated.

Power Pole Revisited

210mm, 1/30 sec at f/8, ISO 200
Next :: Current :: Previous

Finally! Another post! I've been away all week with work and I've really been missing updating this blog. I'm worried that a lack of updates like this week will scare off any regular visitors that I might have gained... please keep checking back!

This is a different pole to my previous post, I find them kind of interesting when there is little else to look at. As ever, all your coments are very much appreciated.

Nice Vue

57mm, 1/5 sec at f/2.9, ISO 400
Next :: Current :: Previous

This is the structure outside my local 'Vue' Cinema, I've just seen Layer Cake (it's ok, no Oscars, but I'm not asking for my money back). I thought it best to use burst mode to take these shots (handheld), I'm definitely learning...I actually remembered to up the ISO as well for a change. 8 out of 10 shots were blurred.
